Online Assessments and the Human Resources Challenge
At a time when the Human Resources team has to do more with less, an accurate assessment tool reduces the time needed to thoroughly evaluate potentially qualified candidates. “Job-Fit” assessments dramatically reduce chances of a bad candidate from slipping through the cracks, while increasing the probability of success from those selected.
Online staffing assessments widen the reach of Human Resources over the entire selection process. Given the number of candidates applying for any single position, and the nationwide geography they may cover, it is both timely and cost effective to qualify candidates via the Internet rather than by face-to-face meetings. Since the assessment can be taken online, the candidate need not travel to complete preliminary aspects of the screening process.
Poor hiring decisions are avoidable! A study of your current, top-performing employees is the first step toward better selection procedures. By analyzing the behavioral traits and “thinking style” of your top performers a job fit “pattern of success” can be established. Candidates who match up to these success “patterns” are much more likely to out perform those who do not. Additionally, data gathered from staffing assessments can increase employee morale and retention. It’s all about getting the right people in the right positions.
Using staffing assessments for placement is only the beginning. Once you see the effectiveness of the tool with your selection process, you’ll apply it to your transfer and promotion decisions as well. The succession planning process becomes a methodical process rather than a biased, low quality annual event.
Given today’s economy, it is essential to re-look the traditional selection model in favor of a process that more effectively addresses these cost/time challenges. The traditional staffing method (interview, reference checks, background checks, etc.) when combined with an assessment tool provides a greater probability of “right-job, right person” match. When your goal is to hire the right person the first time, this is the new formula for success.
